“Spring Wiffle Ball Tournament” Official Rules
Field Rules
1. No gloves of any kind, no stick-em, and no grips on bats.
2. Only Official, non-altered, Wiffle Brand Balls & Bats allowed.
Tournament Setup
1. The tournament will conduct itself in two possible scenarios.
a. If 1-4 teams show up to play, the tournament will proceed in a double elimination style tournament, where each series consists of a best of three series.
b. If 5 or more teams show up, we will divide the teams into two pools. The teams will then play every other team in their pool. Then the top two teams from each pool will advance to the Final Four, where the number 1 seed from Pool A will play the number 2 seed from Pool B and vice versa. These teams will compete in a best of three series where the winners of each will advance to the championship series, which will also be a best of 3 series.
Field Setup
1. There is 43 feet between every base.
2. The pitching rubber will be placed 35 feet from home plate. The speed limit is 42 mph.
Game Play
1. Players run bases in this style of play
2. Games will consist of 4 innings unless a team leads by 10 runs after 3 innings, if extra innings are required, the last batter from the previous at bat is placed on second base and the defense is only asked to record 1 out per inning.
3. 3 outs per inning
4. 3 strikes = out
5. 4 balls = walk
6. Outs can be recorded the same way as in a baseball game, with the following additions: pegging a player who is not on base & throwing a ball and hitting a base to which a runner is forced to advance.
7. Fair and foul balls are judged just like baseball
Batting Rules
1. No bunting
2. After 4 balls, the batter and only the batter has the option to reset count without taking walk. (First choice will stand as final unless other team allows them to change mind).
3. Batters may not lean into pitch in an effort to keep the ball from hitting the strike zone and should not extend hand to catch pitch at any time. Doing either one of the above instances will result in an automatic strike, no matter the circumstance.
